Child Support Services Division
DC Office of the Attorney General
Washington, DCPlease notes the following cases as related to your petition of my ex-husband, Fam. Ct. Case #391880*1 for child support.
Since your filing, I have ALSO filed a custody case to address a better custody arrange for our two daughters, ages 9 and 7. The custody case, Case #08 PCS 3684; I requested to be consolidated with the CSSD's child support case at the hearing scheduled on January 13, 2009. I am still awaiting the name of the legal staff Attorney who will represent this case AND my filed the custody re-address; as well as the Judge who will hear these cases.
Per your office's correspondence to me, dated November 10, 2008, I am to provide all supporting information and changes that may affect the outcome of the child support case. For your records, please review DC Civil Court Case # 0008967-08, Hankins v Dumais. This is a "Deceit/Misrepresentation" aka Racial Discrimination case.
You can learn more about the background of this civil case, by visiting my website at http://marvonnekth@newsvine.com.I've begun searching for an Attorney to handle this civil matter, but have had difficulty in this area. Until I hear back from Attorneys outside of the metro area, please review the background articles and letters at my website. I believe it can provide some context on how I became dependent upon DC Social Services and to date, not receiving any child support.
This matter may be able to be included/consolidated with the hearing matters on January 13, 2009; as all three cases are relevant to the financial and medical support for me and my children. And I repeat - for both, we are currently dependent upon DC Medicaid, TANF and Food stamps.
I am available at your convenience BEFORE our scheduled hearing date to address these overlapping cases and how you/I/we can present them on January 13,2009.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you. I can be reached at 202-441-1551, 301-559-0993, kthankins@gmail.com or kthankins@hotmail.com. Web site: marvonnekth@newsvine.com.

RACIAL DISCRIMINATION BY WHO????
Discrimination Still Matters! See DC Superior Court website, Civil Case # 0008967-08 AND read Facebook Webpage www.facebook.com, search keywords: kthankins@gmail.com or Katrina Taylor Hankins or Civil Case
Why would legal policies and procedures inhibit the overall objective? How could individuals be left more abused after litigation than when escaping an abusive marriage?
My divorce case in the hands of Kathleen Dumais and Bibi Berry's hands … leaves me feeling assaulted by ethical violations, legal abuses, betrayal and fraud. My divorce case is a model for the legal meandering of a firms own abilities to argue and just to be right. Even when wrong. See Civil Court Case # 0008967-08 at the DC Superior Court website. God bless. KatrinaSeems their passion for the argument superseded commitment to me, our agreement and the law. They argued well enough to win but not enough for me and my children. Due diligence was overlooked, other interests outweighed mine. Not a bad job – just keep the cycle circular and the circle round.
I've paid with serious, major depressive symptoms, high blood pressure, a fibroid condition and the immediate need for mental health intervention. How much will that cost DC? I say that the results of my legal representation have robbed me of my personal hopes. And how do I argue that in court – pro se?
This firm defends itself. And I now know to be weary of hiring those that ultimately are self-serving. My home this season is absent of __— . My lawyers served their families first.
Do they care that I'm penniless, going to a shelter?
Recently, I read an article about the lawyer's reputation, success and presence. Her community involvement, family ties and charitable activities in service to families and local and State issues. Hah! The article was written over the dates that I retained this lawyer. She was busy giving interviews than representing my divorce case. She was also installed in a new political role in the MD Assembly As she was sworn, did she think about the work that could make my children's lives better, would put food on my table, secure our future?
*Seems true that she is not married and has no children. Maybe she doesn't understand me and my responsibilities? Maybe her important political promotion IS her life? I obviously do not know that what is important is her Legislative position and not my family's security. So it seems the real objective was something else!
I do not believe she and her Junior Attorney were there to help me. I was easily dismissed. Looking closely, Ms. Berry is a sista, graduated locally from very good undergrad and law schools. She was visible at this firm as one of few black women. She worked for my high profile Attorney – so that made her high profile too! I did not understand that in her eyes, I didn't belong there. It never occurred to me that she judged me dismissively.
On visits, I noticed well to do, expensively-dressed women sitting around me. I knew they had more money than I had, but that my retainer deposit had cleared the bank. So I believed that I would receive good legal service, counsel, advice and follow-through. In hindsight, it may have been black on black discrimination. I've since thought about how much she may have felt that she'd graduated to a Bethesda firm and– that I had not. Maybe my presence tapped right into her own prejudices of how we are and are not?
*She commented she did not believe my expense receipts to be true and I needed to prove them. I'd provided documentation; yet that wasn't enough? What more could I do? What did she need to BELIEVE my case? And why did I have to convince my OWN Attorney of it's merits?
This question from her should have been a clue to me – RUN, don't walk out of here! But, I was not asking her to give me a hook up –free. I was paying her for what I wanted, so that should have resolved any limitations that she may have had in understanding an affluent Black.
With these Attornies, we had same documents – yet were worlds apart. If I would have been clued into the gap I could've left for another firm. Biasness and judgment are hard to see. The lengths that they and others will go to avoid owning their own prejudices are unbelievable to me. I'm as appalled today as I've been hurt by it in days past.
Their advertising dollars should include a by-line "counsel with biasness". They advertise a reputation is critical to their business.
I do not forgive easily the hurt that I have endured as a result of several layers of abuse.
What a shame that the action of my own Attorneys affected me and my children to this degree.Merry Christmas!

Huh?????
Dumais wants to continue her focus on family issues

by Melissa A. Chadwick
Staff WriterDuring Kathleen M. Dumais' first term in the House of Delegates she worked on a bill to change the way adults and juveniles are handled in the judicial system if they are ruled incompetent to stand trial.
If re-elected, she plans to continue working on legal issues – tackling the state's child support statute and domestic violence laws, said Dumais, who is a member of the judiciary committee.
''I think I have been a pretty strong voice on the judiciary committee, and a respected voice," Dumais said Friday.

Dear Chairman Cunnick:
As an individual that has followed local politics and lives in a neighboring community, I thank you for the steps of political empowerment expressed on the MCBPAC website. To paraphrase suggested steps, "follow, research and identify consequences that possibly make a difference in the pool of local candidates.
It is the quality of a local candidate that spurs my email to you today. I ask the assistance of the MCBPAC Board Members to hear my complaint against Ms. Kathleen Dumais, Montgomery County Legislator and to please consider eliminating her from her upcoming election bid in 2010.
As indicated by the MCBPAC mission statement, a strong message needs to be crafted and publicized concerning the legal malpractice committed by Ms. Dumais and her firm, Paley Rothman.
My experience as a client of Ms. Dumais has left me and my family impoverished with losses exceeding millions in family assets. It is my duty as a single mother of two young children, ages 9 and 7 to seek every avenue to right this injustice.
I have attempted to seek a remedy through local legal resources, but to no avail. I believe that Ms. Dumais' stature inhibits such recourse. So, now I seek to make a difference in the other areas of great interest to her – her political seat.
How can I, as a citizen petition the county or present my experience to be fairly heard, supported and possibly prevail to dismiss Ms. Dumais' bid for re-election?
I will keep this email to this length and ask that you please reference my Facebook webpage for the full, detailed article outlining this situation. In the interim, I can be reached via the webpage or my personal cell phone and email address, as follows:

To Whom It May Concern:
I am posting a request for a lawyer to represent my existing racial discrimination case against Ms. Kathleen Dumais of Paley Rothman, and the Montgomery County, MD State Legislator! I have a "Deceit/Misrepresentation" aka Racial Discrimination civil case filed/scheduled for April, 2009 (also pro se). Civil Case# 0008967-08, DC Sup. Court. Ms. Dumais racially discriminated against me and my family during her representation in my divorce. Because of her neglect, I have no child support and have lost all my assets. Can you please recommend an Attorney, outside of DC/Maryland/Northern Virginia that would seriously consider taking on my case? I've been through our local Bar and legal resources, to no avail. And no success retaining a firm to take on this case. Ms. Dumais and her firm are quite notable.
